A New Homer

I have not done so well with the whole fish thing - The two Cardinals have "moved" on. We're not sure why, but the water quality in my tank is excellent, it could be that the tank was not grounded properly - but we'll never know for sure. So I got those issues corrected and sorta accidently came home with this --

This is a Royal Basslet or a Fairy Basslet (or better known as a Gramma Loreto). It's colors are very spectacular to see.

Look who moved in today!

As some of you know I have been working on setting up a saltwater environment in our living room. Not a big one, as it is my very first time venturing down this road, but big enough.

Some of the numbers. It is a 30 gallon tank. There is approximately 25 lbs of live (cultured) rock in it. Super duper water filter, water spray bar (to add water movement), a heater, a cool light (that when turned off has "moon light").

So who moved in? Well two Banggai Cardinals and a species of Blenny (I think it was a red tailed blenny).

In the center of this image is a blenny just about to back into a hole in the rock (that's where is hangs out in a matter of speaking

You want me to start a what???

I always wanted to have my very own saltwater aquarium. But lacked the space to really get one going. I have had several "fresh" water tanks in my life and have been very successful raising fish, at one point I had a great mated pair of angel fish that were spectacular to say the least!

But I digress - My lovely wife presented me with an aquarium kit for Christmas with the intentions that I would setup a salt water environment.

First we had to go find a nice tank stand. That required some assembly .....

umm....

Then there was filling it up, making sure the salinity was correct and letting it "do it's thing". Taaaddaaaa - A Fish Tank!

...aaahhhhhh...

So far so good. Only time will tell.
