Here is a picture of our trusty indoor/outdoor temperature/clock. AS you can see when we took this picture it was 107F outside and 78F inside. Let me explain a bit, this is how hot our deck area got with the sun beating down on it all day - the reality is that the air temperature is really around 90F.

How do we keep it cool inside? We have a small room sized free stand A/C unit, between the efficiency of the house and the A/C unit, we can keep the house tolerable.
This morning brought us a surprise .... 5" of SNOW! Here are some images for you to enjoy ... You can still see snow falling in the first two images.

We went from snowy and cold to warm and typhoon-y in a weekend ... here's a couple of snaps...

About 3" at 8am.

This is our "momma" deer, she has a baby that is 9 or 10 months old.

The road has about 5 inches of water FLOWING over the top and the sides are deep rivers!

Today we proceeded to finish up what mother nature started back in December. I had the rest of the two remaining trees brought down. 70+ years old
AS some of you may know, I was really troubled on the correct thing to do. These are cedar trees, not good for firewood, but good red cedar demands a pretty good penny these days. I searched out for some logging assistance and all the answers equated that I might break even. NO GOOD. I am not into being on the end of a loosing deal while someone else gets rich.
Then I heard of a suggestion of a portable onsite sawmill, or a "WoodMizer". So after many calls and pretty much everyone telling me "Heavy Machinery", I found Wes. He is a "Horse Logger", which means he uses (literally and pardon the pun) horse power to move the logs.
Today he cut down the trees and on Wednesday he is bringing the horses out and will start milling the wood up (I'll update then). For the money I am/will be spending, I should have a pile of cedar 4"x4" posts for a fraction of the cost that a lumber yard would charge me.
YAY!
Here are some images ...

Well - To say we have had normal weather is a bit of a stretch. To say we have had some interesting weather would be spot on. Yesterday afternoon it started snowing around 4pm and continued to the wee hours of the morning. End result 6-8 inches of nice powdery snow. Hopefully the spring weather arrives soon.

Around 4pm yesterday the snow started falling, and I mean FALLING, in 20 minutes we have about 2 inches on the car. Needless to say it was time to go get my little girl from daycare. Little did we know that everyone decided to leave work at teh same time, most of them had no right being on the road!
I took us 3 hours to navigate a round trip of maybe 10 miles. We had to go around line up after line up of cars, mostly they were held up because of the fools that got themselves stuck. Not fun.
For the record we had no probelms getting around in the Audi (all wheel drive & driving safely).

sigh - Summers Gone ....

(yes that is rain starting to fall on the weather radar - expected clearing? March...)
Last night (this morning) a huge storm rolled into the region, high winds and rain. At one point (around 2 AM) it rained harder than I have ever witnessed in my life - it was so hard that it made the house rumble. Of course with high winds, we ended up with out power for several hours (7 hours and 46 minutes to be exact)
